HEMISPHERE: THE NEW OLD CUBA

http://lacc.fiu.edu/downloads/Hemisphere17.pdf

Published twice a year by the Latin American and Caribbean Center at FIU, Hemisphere is dedicated to provoking debate on the challenges and achievements of the Americas. Edited by CRI Director Damián Fernández, the latest edition challenges the traditional perspective that Cuba is frozen in time, and examines how a new Cuba has emerged following the collapse of the Soviet Union, 15 years of the Special Period, and significant demographic changes. This new Cuba has become even clearer with the recent transfer of power to Raul Castro.

The issue contains the following articles:

“Change from Below”

Katrin Hansing

“Poverty and Inequality in Cuba”
